Banana Man's B-Day and more

Lemon Merenge and Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse Birthday Pie
Banana Man making his birthday wish!
The spread.
Raw Itallian: mini pizzas, buschetta, jalpeno pepper jack cheese, cesar salad, zucchini noodles with pesto and with marinara, and raw parmesan cheese. Most of these recipes were from the Cafe Gratitude Cookbook, one of the BEST raw cookbooks ever! It was delish!

.
My friend A and I threw Banana Man the ultimate raw food SURPRISE birthday party! He was genuinely surprised and we had a blast! Everyone loved the food too!
.
Banana Man and I have been playing lots and lots of tennis. It is so much fun! It also gives us some great quality time together. I do need to get back to running, even if it's just 2 times per week. It a different workout from tennis and I think I need that variety. It's nice to have some alone time too :)
.
Ever since Banana Man's b-day I have been a little off kilter with 80/10/10. I'm telling ya, the spices just put you right back on the high-fat raw/cooked food train. It's weird. Really weired. I just never thought I could notice such a HUGE difference between 811 and the standard raw diet. Today we bought 9 large canary melons and everyone was commenting saying things like 'wow, those melons bust be good, look how many they are getting!' Haha, if they only knew. At work I think I am officially known as the Melon Girl. I have at least 1-2 everyday they are so delicious. I will be very sad when the season is over.
.
My skin was FREAKING out last week. I think I was going through some major detox. It was painful, I can't remember a time when my skin was that bad! Luckily I started using coconut oil on my face and consuming 1-2tsps per day and things cleared up very quickly so that's good. My skin is an ongoing issue though, so if anyone has any thoughts or recommendations I would love to hear them!
.
Oh, and I think I forgot to tell you, I am famous!
I was at Central Market devouring some humongous salads and fresh squeezed OJ with banana man and this woman approaches me and asked 'are you Linda?' I said yes, of course because that's my name, but I didn't recognize her face. She said she reads my blog and her name is Carmen. She was very sweet and it was very, very cool to randomly meet someone who reads my blog! If you're reading this Carmen, shoot me a message, I don't know how to contact you!

Now I feel bad for not asking you for your autograph. Next time I will be ready to give you proper props. My e-mail is gazel70@yahoo.com. It really was nice to meet you and banana man. I was wondering when it would happen since we seem to hang out in all the same places. I guess it was just a matter of time. Anyway, I'll catch you later!

Hey There, It sounds like you did go through a good little skin detox there. I say good, because if you get all the way through it, your skin will improve from what it is even now! It almost sounds to me like you might have suppressed your Liver a little with the coconut oil. Which is fine, take it slow if you like, that's cool. I just let my skin flush itself all the way out as fast as possible. But I was already dealing with adult acne to begin with, 811rv flushed that out right fast, but I did go through about 2 months or so of major flair up (again, I was already prone to acne anyway). It was different then my normal breakouts so I knew it was just a temp detox thing & I was willing to be patient & let my body do what it wanted with as little interference from me as I could.

I still have some ways to go, but my skin is looking so MUCH better then it ever has & consistently too. I'm soooo happy about this.

I had actually heard that generally the skin is the last thing the body heals, but my body seems to have healed it nicely first ... thank God.

Beautiful pictures!

Hi Linda,
I have been on and off raw food lifestyle and also have used the Gerson program on and off. Now I am curious about the new program you are doing called "80-10-10"; I have tried to find some info on the Internet about it but am still confused. What is the major philosophy behind this food plan? You've been doing all "raw" in the past and juicing a lot, and now you follow this new plan: do you find it superior to the "plain" raw lifestyle?? Thanks for your time, Mary

Looks like a lovely party and the food looks amazing. Happy Birthday to Banana Man!
Hope you get back on track soon. I'm thinking of joining Bunny's 21 day 811 challenge on RawFu to get myself back on track. Starts Sept.1.
